The McDonald County High School junior varsity girls' basketball team defeated Cassville and Neosho to win the Cassville Junior Varsity Girls' Basketball Tournament held Jan. 27 at Cassville High School.

Against Cassville, the Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter and then held the Lady Wildcats scoreless in the second to take a 27-5 lead at halftime on the way to a 43-24 win.

Caitlyn Barton scored eight points and Laney Wilson seven to lead a balanced McDonald County scoring attack. Rounding out the scoring for McDonald County were Jaylie Sanny and Addy Mick with six points each, Katie Kester five, Sydney Killion four, Mollie Milleson three and Lily Allman and Alexia Estrada two each.

McDonald County defeated Neosho for the second time in two days to claim the tournament title.

The Lady Mustangs took a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 29-20 win.

Barton scored 10 points and Kester eight to lead McDonald County, followed by Killion and Sanny with four each and Allman with three.
