McDonald County dominated play, outshooting Pittsburg 12-4, but came up empty in the win column when the Purple Dragons knocked in a long shot in overtime to hand McDonald County a 2-1 loss on Sept. 11 at MCHS.
Pittsburg took a 1-0 lead at halftime, scoring on its only shot in the first half. Despite controlling the ball on its own end for most of the first half, McDonald County came up empty on its seven shots.
Late in the second half, McDonald County tied the game on a penalty shot by Eh Doh Say, but Pittsburg won in the game with a goal early in the overtime session.
Carthage
The Mustangs fell to 2-6 for the season with a 5-1 loss Sept. 14 at Carthage High School.
Eh Doh Say had the Mustangs' only goal, coming after the Tigers had built a 5-0 lead.
McDonald County was at Thomas Jefferson Academy on Sept. 19 before traveling to Neosho on Sept. 21.
