McDonald County Republican Club

The September meeting of the McDonald County Republican Club will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Pineville Community Center. The speaker will be announced soon. The American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting the meal, which will consist of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, drinks and dessert. These meetings are a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and your local officeholders. Singing And Fellowship

The seventh annual Night With Duane Garren & Friends will be held at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. Enjoy a great evening of singing and fellowship with gospel music's No. 1 emcee. Bethlehem is located four miles east of Longview and three miles west of Rocky Comfort. It's free and everyone is invited. The 14th annual Family Day will be held Oct. 1. Church members invite those attending to stick around after the service for some food and fellowship. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. and worship service is at 10:45 a.m.

Old-Fashioned Homecoming

On Oct. 1, Banner Church of the Nazarene will celebrate its 85th year at "Old-Fashioned Homecoming 2017." In the worship service at 10:30 a.m.,the original "Canaan Bound" will sing. There will be video testimonies from past and present members and a pottery demonstration. After a lunch of chili, soups and homemade desserts, there will be old-time crafts demonstrations including pottery, spinning, blacksmithing and a quilt show. Stamp Club Announces Event

The Joplin Stamp Club announces its annual Stamp/Postcard Show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Continental Banquet Hall, 2728 N. Range Line Road, Joplin. There will be several stamp and postcard dealers from various states participating in the show. For the serious collector of stamps and postcards, this is an opportunity to find that special item needed to complete a collection and beginners will also find dealers ready to encourage and help them start a great hobby. Stella Senior Center

The Stella Senior Center will have a dance on Friday, Sept. 22. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. This will be the annual fish fry. The dance begins at 7 p.m., with the band "Evelyn and The Outriders" playing for a $3 cover charge. Refreshments will be available. Call 417-628-3314 for more information.

Love Celebrating 90th Birthday

The family of Mona Joy Love are inviting all family, neighbors, and friends to join them in celebrating her 90th birthday from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Living Word Mission Community Building in Simcoe.

AndersonGarage Sale

The City of Anderson will be hosting their annual citywide garage sale/clean-up on Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8. A trash bin will be available both days at the City Garage, across from Casey's on Missouri Highway 59.

Marine Corps League Ball

The U.S. Marine Corps 242nd Birthday Ball presented by Northwest Arkansas Marine Corps League will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 10 p.m. Located at the NWA Holiday Inn and Convention Center, 1500 S. 48th St., Springdale, Ark. Attire is banquet appropriate. Doors open at 5 p.m. and a cash bar will be available. There will be social time, arrival photo, posting of the colors, dinner and speaker, USMC birthday ceremony, dance and silent auction. All active, veterans and civilians are welcome. Spaghetti Dinner And Dessert Auction

Because of local support, the Southwest City Senior Center is able to host a variety of activities for seniors, including an upcoming Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction on Oct. 7. The fun will begin at 6 p.m. A spaghetti dinner with bread sticks, salad, dessert and a drink will be available -- $7 for adults and $5 for those ages 5-12. Tickets can be purchased at the Southwest Senior Center or at City Hall. Live music will be provided by local artist John Spurling. Spurling specializes in classic red-dirt country and folk music. A handmade afghan will be raffled. "Our auctioneer is JimBob McGhee. He always does a fantastic job," said Director Melissa Lance. "All proceeds will go to our center. Anyone who would like to make a pie or dessert for the auction is welcome to do so or if you would like to help in another way just let us know. We appreciate your support."
