JV Holds On To Defeat Seneca

The McDonald County High School junior varsity built an 18-2 lead and held on to claim a 24-22 decision over Seneca on Sept. 4 at MCHS.

Michael Williams ran for a 49-yard touchdown on the second play from scrimmage to give McDonald County a 6-0 lead. William's run was set up by Ben Mora's 30-yard pass to Keegan Driscoll on the game's first play.

Mora scored on a one-yard sneak just a minute later to make the score 12-0. Oscar Ortiz recovered a Seneca fumble and returned it to the one on the Indians' first possession to set the stage for Mora's TD.

Seneca got on the board early in the second quarter with a safety when the Mustangs snapped the ball out of the end zone on a punt attempt.

But McDonald County answered later in the quarter on Mora's 42-yard run to give the Mustangs an 18-2 lead at halftime.

Seneca scored a pair of touchdowns on short runs to cap off long drives in the third quarter to cut the score 18-16 to start the fourth period.

McDonald County scored its final touchdown early in the period on Mora's 61-yard touchdown pass to Trent Alik.

Seneca then drove the length of the field to cut the score to 24-22 on a short touchdown run late in the game, but the Mustangs stopped the two-point conversion attempt to preserve the win.
