The McDonald County High School soccer team won its second match in a row when the Mustangs handed Riverton, Kan., a 7-1 loss on Aug. 29 at Riverton High School.

McDonald County took a 3-0 lead at intermission on goals by Eh Doh Say, Jaw K. Shoe and Brian Lopez.

Say got the scoring started when he found an open net after an assist from Shoe.

Shoe made the score 2-0 a short time later on an assist from Karlo Barreda.

Just before the half, Lopez knocked in a shot after an assist from Say.

McDonald County stretched its lead to 5-0 early in the second half on goals by Jeobany Marcos and Mu Dar before Riverton scored its only goal of the game to cut the lead to 5-1.

Say recorded his second assist of the match on the goal by Marcos while Arturo Morales assisted on Dar's goal that came from about 30 yards out.

Say's second goal of the game was unassisted and came from about five yards farther out than Dar's blast.

McDonald County's final goal of the match was scored by Melvin Ordonez on an assist from Marcos.

McDonald County fell to 2-3 for the season when the Mustangs dropped a 3-0 decision on Aug. 31 at Carl Junction.

McDonald County is scheduled to host Monett in its home opener on Sept. 7 at the Loyce Shellnut Soccer Field located behind the district's administration offices in Anderson. Game time is 5 p.m.
