Junior High Football Teams Beat East Newton

The McDonald County eighth-grade football team capped off an unbeaten season with a 39-0 win over East Newton on Oct. 12 at MCHS.

Bo Leach ran for a 25-yard touchdown to get McDonald County on the board in the first quarter. Jared Mora kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

After Leach intercepted a pass on the Patriots' next possession, Cole Martin hit Levi Malone with a 55-yard touchdown pass. Mora added his second extra point for a 14-0 lead.

Junior Eliam ran for a 15-yard touchdown to make the score 20-0 before Martin and Malone hooked up again, this time from 51 yards.

Eliam added his second touchdown, a 23-yard yard and Mora hit his third extra point to make the score 33-0 at halftime.

Leach recorded his second interception and added a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to make the final score 39-0.

McDonald County finished the season with a 5-0-1 record.

Seventh Grade

Sterling Woods threw three touchdown passes, two to Weston Gordon, to lead the seventh grade to a 20-0 win.

Woods and Gordon hooked up for a 54-yard touchdown for a 6-0 McDonald County lead in the first quarter. The duo connected again for a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter for a 12-0 McDonald County lead at halftime.

McDonald County closed out the scoring on Woods 25-yard touchdown pass to Raider Blue in the third quarter. Woods threw to Gordon for the conversion to make the final score 20-0.

The win gives the seventh grade a 3-3 record to end the season.

B Game

Billy Laughard ran for an 80-yard touchdown and Woods ran for a 20-yard TD before hitting Gordon with a two-point conversion to give McDonald County a 14-0 win in a combined seventh- and eighth-grade B game.
