MCHS Wrestlers Defeated In Opening Duals

McDonald County opened the 2017-2018 wrestling season by dropping duals to Rogers High School and Rogers Heritage on Tuesday night at Rogers High School.

Heritage claimed a 47-32 victory in the Mustangs' opening dual. McDonald County was led by wins from its three returning state medalists Oscar Ortiz, Jakob Gerow and Bronnie Kinser.

Ortiz won by forfeit at 120 pounds, while Gerow claimed a 13-1 decision over Nic Carbajal at 126 pounds and Kinser pinned Edwin Sandoval in the first period of their 285-pound match.

Also picking up wins for McDonald County were Erin Yang, 106 pounds, 25-15 decision; Christian Davidson, 113 pounds, forfeit; and Timber Teague, 182 pounds, pin.

Rogers High built a 33-18 lead to edge the Mustangs 33-30 in the second dual.

Recording wins for the Mustangs were Yang, 106, forfeit; Ortiz, 120 pounds, forfeit; Gerow, 126 pounds, pin; Jack Teague, 152 pounds, forfeit; and, Kinser, 285 pounds, forfeit.

McDonald County travels to Diamond tonight to face the Wildcats and Seneca before entering the Neosho Tournament on Saturday.
