Wayne Holly was celebrating a birthday, and Don and Janet Chaney were celebrating their wedding anniversary as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Special prayers were requested for Donnie Burton and Jimmy Easter. Jeanette Easter thanked Sheri, Ashley, Janet and Shelley for their help with the Trunk or Treat and presented the church with the second-place prize and ribbon we won.

We had a wonderful crowd for our annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner on Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone who helped and to Darlene for setting up and decorating. Special thanks to Don Brackney Jr. and Carrie Edens for their help.

Linda Abercrombie gave the devotional, "Regrets," and read John 4:34. Everyone has regrets from missed opportunities, mistakes and sins. Regret serves as instruction to help us from making more mistakes. Sometimes we get stuck in regret and should just remember that that boat has sailed. Never let regrets block God's peace and what He is calling you to do.

In observance of Veteran's Day, the Veterans in our congregation were recognized; Jimmy Easter, Tim McCaine, Eugene Casebolt and Wayne Johnson. We appreciate their service to our country. With Becky Johnson at the piano, we sang "My Country Tis of Thee" and "O Beautiful for Spacious Skies" led by Karen Gardner. Jerry Abercrombie and Wayne served as ushers and collected the offering.

Our Pastor, Brother Mark Hall brought us God's message, "Mind Your Own Business," and read I Thessalonians 4:7-12. Verses 11-12 says, "That you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing." Brother Mark said there are two kinds of people, those who think they have to share every detail in every moment of their day and those who want to see what everyone is doing.

"Wouldn't it be great if everyone would mind their own business instead of being a busybody? Some have more wisdom about others' affairs than their own. Busybodies seem to be critical by nature. They worry about the splinter in their neighbor's eye more than the beam in their own. God didn't just instruct us as individuals to mind our own business, but he also intended for churches to mind their own business and that is God's business. Churches want to be soul food restaurants instead of soul saving churches. They try to serve everything to everyone instead of serving the word of God. We are not supposed to be hospitality houses, we are supposed to be the temple of the living God. We need to forget about the world's business and mind our own business before we forget what our business is."

In Luke 2:49, when Jesus was 12, he said, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?" And in Luke 19:10, Jesus said, "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." That was Jesus' business. Our business is to tell others how to get to Heaven."

Brother Mark continued by telling us some things we need to know about God's business with scripture readings. "It is a big business. It is worldwide (Matthew 28:19). God's business is time sensitive (John 9:4 and Colossians 4-5). God's business is not just big geographically, but it is big numerically (Romans 3:23). It is a serious business because it involves everyone. To spread God's word you must be believable, honest and trustworthy. You must lead the right kind of life for others to see. God's business is big perpetually. It goes on until Jesus comes (Matthew 28:20). God's business is important because it deals with our eternal destiny and that of the people we love. Everyone is at stake. It is an urgent business (1 Thessalonians 5). Time is a gift of God. We can't buy time. God has given you that time to be about His business. One day there won't be any more time to minister, witness and pray. God's business is a rewarding business (Matthew 25:34). No other business has a retirement plan like God's business retirement plan."

In closing, Brother Mark said, "Before and after you read your Bible, pray for understanding and direction. We want to understand heaven and what it is like, how wonderful it is. But are you ready for Heaven? You have to take care of the business of salvation before you can take care of God's business. Everyone who calls on His name will be saved. Jesus made the sacrifice for our sins. Have you taken care of the business of salvation? Jesus walked 70 miles to be baptized."

After the message, we observed the Lord's Supper with Communion as Brother Mark read 1 Corinthians 11:23-34. Our hymn of invitation was "I'll Tell the World That I'm a Christian." Doug Cory gave the benediction.
