Library To Kick Off Summer Reading Program

The McDonald County Library will kick off its Summer Reading Program, "Build a Better World," with a party on Saturday, June 3.

The library will host two drop-in times that day: 10 a.m. to noon at the Pineville Community Center, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southwest City library location.

The Summer Reading Kick-Off party will feature a "Mad Science" show, starting at 10 a.m. at the Pineville Community Center. After the show concludes at 10:45, a scavenger hunt will begin.

Those who attend will be able to register for the summer reading program and obtain reading logs. Participants also can register to win a door prize to Bluff Dwellers Cave in Noel.

Summer reading T-shirts will be available for purchase.

The Pineville Community Center is located at 602 Jesse James Road, Pineville.

At the Southwest City library location, those who attend will have the opportunity to participate in Karaoke, beginning at 1 p.m. At 1:45, a scavenger hunt will begin. The Southwest City library is located at 102 North Main Street, Southwest City.

Most activities will be geared toward children, but youth and adults are welcome to pick up summer reading materials as well.

In other news, the library recently wrapped up totals for the book sale in early April, which brought in $695. Library Director Kim Schneider thanks the community for its support and contribution.
