Lady Mustangs' Soccer Season Ends With 8-0 Loss

The Neosho Lady Wildcats handed the McDonald County High School girls' soccer team an 8-0 loss on May 15 in the opening round of the Missouri Class 3 District 12 Girls Soccer Tournament at Carl Junction High School to bring the 2017 season to an end for the Lady Mustangs.

Neosho dominated from the opening kick, taking a 1-0 lead less than nine minutes into the game on a goal by Emily Velasco. Ashley Talley scored a minute later to give the Lady Wildcats an early 2-0 lead.

Alicia Cooper made it 3-0 at the 14:26 mark of the first half before Kennedy Lamp closed out scoring in the first half at the 30:10 mark to give Neosho a 4-0 lead at intermission.

Laken Schnackenberg opened the scoring for the Lady Wildcats less than two minutes into the second half before Cooper made it 6-0 less than a minute later. Goals by Schnackenberg (43:40) and Cooper (79:44) closed out the scoring.

The Lady Mustangs finished its second season of girls' soccer with an 0-12 record.

Due to a flood forcing the cancellation of the final home games of the season, McDonald County honored the two seniors on the team, Leslie Estrada and Graviela Garcia, following the final home baseball game on May 9.
