'History Live' Planned For May 27

The McDonald County Historical Society will host a family-friendly event, "History Live," from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Pineville Square.

The day will feature several demonstrations and various activities. Mike Freund of the "Blacksmith Friends of Newtonia" will show how to fashion a horseshoe, Karen Almeter will demonstrate spinning wool and Dr. Quinalty, a ranger from Roaring River State Park, will give out samples of chuck wagon cooking.

The Historical Society Museum will open for the season and feature several new exhibits. The Secession Room has been completely revamped, thanks to volunteer Christina Luhn. The Strawberry Room will include the history of agriculture in McDonald County and the Military Room will feature new exhibits.

Those who attend also will have the opportunity to enjoy a live auction, as well as a pie auction, and entertainment.

The drawing for the Doug Hall print will take place at 2 p.m.

The Bunker Hill Quilters will sell concessions and lunch.

The event is free and open to the public.
