The McDonald County freshman baseball team opened its 2017 season on March 20 with a 3-2 loss to Neosho at MCHS.
Cade Smith went the first four innings and took the loss before Jackson Behm pitched the final inning.
Omar Manuel led the Mustangs with two hits, while Samson Boles and Koby McAlister had one hit each.
In the nightcap, Neosho claimed a 9-3 win. McAlister worked an inning while Estaban Ruiz went four innings.
Kameron Hopkins, Marvin Ikosia and Smith each had one hit to lead the McDonald County offense.
The Mustangs' March 24 game against Joplin was postponed due to rain. The Mustangs were at Carthage on March 28 before returning home on March 31 to face Seneca. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
