Chicken Depot in Jane is now open every day of the week.
Chicken Depot, located next to Macadoodles off U.S. 71, sells chicken sourced from major suppliers like Tyson, at a reduced price, as well as some specialty food items and some veggies.
General manager Brandon Tidwell said that his family-owned-and-operated business gets its chicken at a lower price when producers make too much, or end up with the wrong sizes. His lower purchase price, he said, translates into the ability to sell chicken at a lower price.
"You're getting more for your money, and it's a better quality than what it would be otherwise," he said. "Really, our quality is what sets us apart."
His business, he said, is geared toward getting affordable, high-quality food to its customers, and some of that may be the result of Chicken Depot being a family business.
The business has a wide array of customers, he said, including families who buy in bulk, individuals interested in saving money and even restaurants.
The Jane Chicken Depot has been around for about three years, he said, and the family business has been around for about six and a half years. The original store, he said, is in Siloam Springs, Ark.
