County To Receive New Generator

A new portable generator will help with emergency management efforts in the county.

The McDonald County Emergency Management Agency was recently awarded a portable generator through the FY16 Emergency Management Performance Grant mini-application.

The new generator will help officials plan for the future, said Gregg Sweeten, McDonald County Emergency Management Agency director. Officials will be able to take on-site electric power to shelters and have a backup for the Emergency Operations Center.

Sweeten is required to receive bids on the generator. The federal money for the generator is funneled to the state, and county officials apply for that grant through the state.
