Flood Recovery Center Closes; Register Available Online

While the flood disaster recovery center in Anderson is now closed, folks seeking help can still register online.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency established the center on June 13 in Anderson to assist flood victims with paperwork and registration. The center closed June 17.

McDonald County Emergency Management Agency Director Gregg Sweeten said people wanting help can still register online.

The next step involves correspondence and a confirmation or denial of financial assistance, he said.

According to a news release from FEMA, the organization has now approved more than 1,200 applications for assistance from Missouri flood survivors and more than $7.8 million in assistance grants to survivors.

The National Flood Insurance Program has received more than 1,200 claims from Missouri policy holders and payments currently total more than $28 million, the FEMA news release said.

To register online, visit DisasterAssistance.gov or call toll-free 800-621-3362 (FEMA) from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
