Janet Kay Mahurin

Janet Kay Mahurin, 64, of Rogers, Ark., passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Northwest Medical Center in Rogers. She was born on Dec. 16, 1952, to the late Kenneth Clyde and Glenna Lajean Goff.

She spent her early years in California, before moving back to the four-state area. She had recently retired from Walmart Pharmacy Warehouse Division after 25 years of service. She enjoyed reading books, bird watching and working in her puzzle books. Her favorite pastime was watching the ID Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her two children, Steven Frazier of Jane, Mo., and April Frazier of Rogers; seven grandchildren; a younger brother, Kenneth M. Goff of Anderson, Mo.; and a sister, Glenda Joan Hill of Bentonville, Ark.

A Memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Anderson at 3 p.m. June 17, 2017.

Twila Nadine Martin, 94, of Anderson, Mo., departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2017, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Mo. She entered this life on June 23, 1922, in Anderson, daughter of the late Oda Harry and Ellen Edith (Glazier) Taylor.

She was a lifelong area resident and a 1940 graduate of Anderson High School. On April 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to James Nathan Martin and to this union four children were born. Besides being a devoted homemaker, she worked for several years at Hudson Foods in Noel, Mo., retiring in 1985. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for her family. She opened her home to all and never knew a stranger. Her passion in life was quilting. Every quilt she made was from the heart with an abundance of warmth and love. She was a longtime faithful member of Moss Church where she enjoyed fellowship and song with her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, James Martin on Sept. 18, 2001; a great-grandson, Paco Gonzalez; two sisters, Lila Hatfield and Darlene "Dinky" Bryant; and a brother, Don Taylor.

She is survived by her four children, Jamie Martin and wife, Darla, of Anderson, Jackie Barton and husband, David, of Southwest City, Mo., Jeff Martin and wife, Glinda, of Anderson and Joyce Law also of Anderson; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Joy Bullis of Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and foster children.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Brother Bob Holloway officiating. Burial followed in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were Chris Hatfield, Rick Hatfield, Billy Martin, Larry Marsh, Ron Bullis and Larry Taylor. Randy Land and Donnie Hatfield served as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Memorials are being directed to the Moss Church c/o the funeral home.
