Light Up The Night Berry Glow Run Scheduled

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Runners and walkers will be able to light up the night at the Berry Glow night-time 5K run/walk and 2K walk on Friday, June 23.

The event was rescheduled from the May date, due to the weather.

Organizers encourage anyone interested to participate. Food booths will be set up and a DJ at the Anderson City Hall square will provide music for dancing.

The glowing fun night-time event features a 2K with pets and a 5K, along with a costume contest.

Proceeds from the Berry Glow 2017 events will help fund additional or upgraded playground equipment at the Anderson Playground.

Of each 2K pet entry, $5 will go to the Anderson City Dog Pound to help with homeless pets in McDonald County, organizers said.

The 2K walk, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will include adults, children and pets -- escorted by their owners.

Those who bring along their pets are responsible for their behavior. Pets must meet all City of Anderson requirements, organizers said. All pets walking/running should be on required leashes and kept close to their owner.

Cost for the 2K is $15 and includes a T-shirt.

At 8 p.m., runners and walkers can enjoy a 5K, which is a timed event. The Anderson 5K course will be lit up. The event is open to the public.

Cost for the 5K is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Race day registration is $25.

Participants may pick up their packets, beginning at 6 p.m. on race day at the Anderson City Hall.
