Flood Disaster Recovery Center Now Open In Anderson

Thursday, June 15, 2017

McDonald County residents can tap into help for flood recovery now that a flood disaster recovery center has been established in the county.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Recovery Center opened Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Anderson, FEMA officials announced in a press release. The church is located at One Friendship Lane, across from McDonald County High School.

Residents will be able to have questions answered and find additional help.

According to the FEMA news release, the center offers in-person support to individuals and businesses in any of the 27 counties included in the Missouri federal disaster declaration for flooding and severe storms that occurred between April 28 and May 11, 2017. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will discuss assistance and offer to help anyone who needs information or assistance filing an application.

The center in McDonald County is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Anyone who has not registered before visiting a recovery center should have the following information available when arriving:

• Social Security number

• Address of the location where the damage occurred (pre-disaster address)

• Current mailing address

• Current telephone number

• Insurance information

• Total household annual income

• Routing and account number for checking or savings account (this allows FEMA to directly transfer disaster assistance funds into your bank account.)

• Description of disaster-caused damage and losses.

Homeowners, renters and business-owners are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting a disaster recovery center. Register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling toll-free 800-621-3362 (FEMA) from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Multilingual registration assistance is available. People may also register using the FEMA app for smartphones.
