Hearing And Speech Therapy

Our Sunday morning message was brought to us by our Senior Pastor Larry Crawford Jr. reading from Mark 7:32-37.

"And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis."

"And they bring unto Him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him."

"And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is opened."

"And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain."

When this man was brought to God he was deaf and dumb. This is nothing like the other places in the Bible that indicates this man was deaf/mute at birth. It most likely happened later. Jesus, once he healed this man, told them not to go and tell of his healing, but he did. Unlike today many blessings happen due to Jesus and people do not give the glory to God.

Life is Life. Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean everything is going to be roses. As a Christian, you have the Master Gardener inside of you. Your life changed but life doesn't. Just because you're right with God and trying to do your best, such as serving your church, doesn't mean that it is going to be smooth sailing. You just have a new Captain that holds the wind and sails in His fist. The devil isn't worried about the lost. He is worried about you though because you are trying to do right by the Lord.

Just like the deaf and mute man in the story, one person's testimony can make a difference. The answer to life's problems, before and after you're saved gives one a different view. For example, before you're saved you can't hear the sweet Savior's voice of calm, his still small voice in crisis and the overpowering voice of reason in time of doubt. You can communicate with God and he hears you but he is under no obligation to answer. He answers only to His children who know him as their personal savior.

Just because this man met Jesus his life was changed forever. He could hear and talk but that doesn't mean he still didn't have to face life. But, he knew someone who was the Life!

As you encounter life as a Christian, your hearing can become impaired and you can't speak anything good because your heart isn't right. Jesus is the only one who can clean it out for you. Will you allow him to do that?
