General Rules and Regulations

1. The McDonald County Board of Education reserves the right to have the final approval of all Fair Board policies, rules, and regulations.

2. The rules and regulations will apply to each and every department of the Fair. Exhibitors will be required to familiarize themselves with all the rules and regulations concerning the Fair.

3. Any person who violates any of the rules will forfeit any privileges and premiums and be subject to such penalty as the Board of Directors may order.

4. All property of every character entered for competition, for display, or any other purpose shall be subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the Board of Directors, McDonald County Fair Association Inc.

5. The McDonald County Fair Association Inc. or any of its officers or persons connected with the Fair shall not be held responsible for loss, damage, injury, death, or disability, by disease, or from any other cause to such property.

6. Any person in McDonald, Newton, and Barry Counties is eligible to exhibit livestock or articles in the McDonald County Fair, subject to age limitations contained herein.

7. All exhibitors are limited to a number of exhibits as specified in the rules of each division.

9. Exhibits must be registered and in place by 6 p.m. Thursday or earlier if required by that division.

10. All craft exhibits entered in the McDonald County Fair must be the property of the exhibitor and must have been made by the exhibitor.

11. Exhibitors of livestock may exhibit as many animals in a class as they like, but may not collect more than two premium monies per class.

12. Livestock exhibitors must be able to prove ownership of animal for a minimum of 60 days prior to the Fair by canceled check, registration papers, notarized statement, or bill of sale. Bucket calves less than 60 days old still need to be able to prove ownership.

13. All livestock must meet the State Health Regulations. Proof thereof must be presented to the section superintendent before unloading the animals . Veterinarians on the grounds will have the final say.

14. All exhibitors of livestock must furnish his or her own feed, bedding, and watering equipment. Exhibit space will be set up according to division entries. Stalls will be pre-assigned by Show Committee . (If exhibitors wish to be penned together, they should indicate so on their entry form.)

15. Judges will award premiums only to those exhibits mentioned in the premium list.

16. Exhibition livestock is welcome but must bring pens. Contact commercial booth superintendent.

17. All protests must be in writing and accompanied by a deposit of $20, which will be forfeited if protest is not sustained. Such protest must state plainly the cause of the complaint or appeal and must be delivered to the department superintendent within six hours after the occasion of such protest. Protests will be considered by the Board of Directors as promptly as possible, and their decision will be final.

18. Youth exhibitors must not have passed their 19th birthday before Jan. 1, 2017, unless they are active FFA members. Verification must be made with a valid membership card.

19. Entry fees for exhibitors not living in McDonald County are as follows: Beef - $10.00; Sheep - $5.00; Dairy - $10.00; Rabbits - $2.00; Swine - $5.00; Horses - $10.00; Goats - $5.00; Poultry - $2.00. Livestock entry deadline is July 1. (Entry fees must accompany entry form. Make checks payable to "McDonald County Fair".)

20. All indoor exhibits will be released at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017. All livestock will be released immediately following the premium sale or 10 p.m., whichever is latest. Premiums, ribbons, and trophies will be forfeited if tack, animals, or other entries are removed before that time. This will be strictly enforced.

21. No dogs are allowed on the fairgrounds, except exhibition dogs.

22. No alcoholic beverages allowed on fairgrounds.

23. All checks for class premiums must be picked up from department superintendents at release time Saturday night. No checks will be mailed.

24. Any livestock entries received after entry deadline will be charged a $5.00 penalty fee.

25. Treasurer's books will be closed 90 days after the fair. All business transactions with the McDonald County Fair must be attended to by that time.

26. Set-up and clean-up days: the Mondays before and after the fair. All 4-H and FFA members and others participating in fair should participate.

27. All youth groups with exhibitors spending the night must have an adult sponsor also spending the night.

28. Animals showing in a breed class must have registration papers in exhibitor's name or have a signed statement from the breeder stating the animal's age and that the animal is a purebred animal, or they will be shown in the cross or other class.

29. All livestock trailers must be parked in designated parking areas.

30. All youth livestock exhibitors must submit a copy of the conduct pledge (printed in the fair catalog) at the same time they submit their livestock entry form. Those who violate the pledge will forfeit all premium and/or placing money and will not be allowed to sell in the premium sale. The second offense will result in the exhibitor being barred from exhibiting at the McDonald County Fair. The Board of Directors will evaluate violations, and their decisions will be final.

31. The superintendents have the right to reject any exhibit they feel unworthy of exhibition.

32. No single exhibitor will be paid premium on more than one placing in each class, with the exception of livestock, which may have two.

33. Youth who are not McDonald County Fair livestock exhibitors spending the night on the fair grounds must submit a release form before doing so to the Livestock Superintendent. Releases may be obtained from the Livestock Superintendent.

34. Neither, the McDonald County Fair Association Inc., nor any of its members, will be responsible for items not picked up at the release time on Saturday.

35. All exhibitors exhibiting swine, sheep, goats, beef, dairy, bucket calf, little flock, and/or horses must be five years of age or older by July 1, 2017, to exhibit the above referenced at the fair, unless otherwise provided for herein.

36. Eligible Participants: Only livestock exhibitors of the McDonald County Fair will be allowed to show/exhibit an animal in any livestock show or showmanship contest at the McDonald County Fair. Any livestock exhibitors with multiple animals in any given class must have another McDonald County Fair livestock exhibitor show/exhibit his or her animal(s) in the arena. Any livestock exhibitor that allows a person, that is not a McDonald County Fair livestock exhibitor, show/exhibit his or her animal in any livestock show or showmanship contest will forfeit all trophies, ribbons, and premiums, including any premium sale premiums and/or add-ons.
