Club Plans Scholarships For Noel Girls

The January meeting of the Noel Woman's Club was held Jan. 10 with 14 members present. After the Pledge of Allegiance and Lord's Prayer were recited, roll call was taken. Minutes were read and approved and the year-end treasurer's report was given.

A thank you note was received from DFS for the club's donation. Dot reported on the children's Christmas gifts.

Linda gave an update on the scholarship program for this coming spring. She visited with counselors at the high school and they will have the forms available in February for Noel girls who are interested in applying for the scholarships. The forms must be complete to be considered for a scholarship. The club must receive them no later than April 1.

The 2017 books were handed out to members and dues were collected.

Donations were made to the Noel Senior Citizens Center. The club gave a thank you donation to the Noel Methodist Church for the use of their building.

Club members voted to again donate homemade cookies to the Meals on Wheels Program for Valentine's Day. Each member is to bring four dozen homemade cookies to the next meeting, where members will bag them for the Meals on Wheels folks.

For the program, Debbie read us highlights of the past year from the minutes. Noel Women's Club has grown this year and members are thankful for those new members and what the club is able to do for our community.

Hostesses for the meeting were Barb and Lea, who served refreshments.

The next meeting will be on Valentine's Day. Hostesses will be Melissa and Mary. Bring a $5 gift for the gift exchange.
