Covers the 542 square miles of McDonald County and places value on assessed personal and real property; sells topographical maps, aerial maps, wall plat maps and plat books. Assessments due annually by March 1 without penalty; new residents need to assess immediately

Recorder, Kenneth Underwood -- located in courthouse, Route W, Pineville, 417-223-7523; email: [email protected]; open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday,(open through noon hour); Records all legal documents, such as land transfers, deeds, powers of attorney, military discharges, surveys and much more; marriage licenses -- $60; also reference point for genealogy records

Treasurer, Joye Helm -- located in courthouse, Route W, Pineville, 417-223-7514, [email protected]; receives and distributes under court order all monies that come into county government; in charge of keeping accounts and records for all funding sources and handles disbursements to taxing entities

There is a fee, however, for the county septic system inspection program which is handled through the health office; call for details. Donations are accepted and appreciated
