Carl Junction Defeats McDonald County Freshman

Carl Junction defeated the McDonald County freshman boys' basketball team 41-35 Saturday in the seventh-place game of the Webb City Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament.

Carl Junction led 21-10 at halftime before the Mustangs cut the lead to 27-20 entering the fourth quarter. McDonald County had a 15-14 edge in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs hit six free throws down the stretch to hold off the Mustangs.

Parker Harris led McDonald County with 21 points to lead McDonald County. Jackson Clarkson added six points, while Logan Renner had five and Trayce McCool three.

McDonald County opened the tournament on Nov. 29 with a 45-8 loss to Joplin. The Eagles led 21-5 at halftime before outscoring McDonald County 24-3 in the second half.

Clarkson and Harris had three points each for the Mustangs, and Irael Marcos had two to account for McDonald County's eight points.

In the consolation semifinals, Neosho took a 23-10 lead at halftime on the way to claiming a 52-41 decision.

Harris scored 19 points to lead the Mustangs, followed by Ricky Sanchez with eight points, Marcos five, Clarkson four, McCool three and Renner two.
