Jesse James Days Roll Into Town

FESTIVALGOERS CAN ENJOY LIVE ENTERTAINMENT, PIE AUCTION, CARNIVAL RIDES

McDonald County neighbors are enjoying a variety of activities this week as Jesse James Days come to town.

A pageant for youngsters, entertainment, a 5k and 10k run/walk and 13-mile bike ride, and a parade, are just some of the fun-filled events taking place this week.

Proceeds from Jesse James Days benefit the Pineville Fire Department.

Jesse James Days -- which kicked off Wednesday, Aug. 9 -- will continue through Saturday, Aug. 12, on the Pineville Square.

Each night of the Jesse James Days features live entertainment, as well as carnival rides and a Frisbee throwing contest for youth up to age 12.

For bingo enthusiasts, the Pineville/Jane Ball Program will host bingo again this year.

On Thursday, boys and girls will vie for honors in the Jesse James Pageant, which will take place at 6 p.m.

The Pineville firefighters will offer a delicious, fresh lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Pineville Square. Firefighters will provide everything from hamburgers, nachos, pulled pork sandwiches to funnel cakes, big pickles, drinks and much more, all at reasonable prices. Orders may be called in to 223-1200. Delivery is available and credit and debit cards are accepted.

Other events include a pie auction, which will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday night, a parade Saturday night, and a barbecue chicken dinner at the Community Center, following the parade.

Free live entertainment will include RedWolf performing on Thursday night, with Lickitty Split on Friday night and Flashback on Saturday night.

Carnival rides open at 6 p.m. each night. Arm bands are being sold for $20 each. Each arm band can be utilized for one night only, but can be used any night the buyer would like.

On Saturday morning, those who would like to support the Pineville Fire Department and McDonald County 4 Kids can walk, run or bike as part of the Running With The Outlaws event.

Packet pickup is from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, with Saturday morning as the final pickup time. Packet pickup that morning is from 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. at the Pineville Square. Paper registration closes at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Paper forms are available at City Hall. Officials are also selling chances for a 2004 Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary Edition. All taxes are prepaid so the winner isn't required to pay them. Chances are $1 each or six for $5.

Tickets are available at City Hall and from any Pineville firefighter. All proceeds will benefit the Pineville Fire Department.

The car will be given away at 9 p.m. Aug. 12.
