Chamber of Commerce

Just a quick reminder the chamber will be open in the new location Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during the Jesse James festival. The new location is next to the University of Missouri Extension Office on the Pineville Square. The Chamber is in full swing with the summer labor grant program as well as getting updated on our various campaigns including tourism campaign, Exit 10 campaign, Work Ready Campaign, and Apprentice and job shadowing program just to name a few.

Anderson Betterment Club Lunch and Meeting

As you're making plans for this week, plan on joining the Anderson Betterment Club for lunch at our regular meeting. It's at noon, Thursday Aug. 10, at the New Mac Community Room. We'll be talking about all kinds of things the Betterment Club has going on.

If you've been "on the fence" about getting involved in the Anderson Betterment Club, now's the perfect time to commit. We need everybody's help to make Anderson a better place to live, work and play.

Stella Senior Center

The Stella Senior Center will host a dance on Friday evening, Aug. 11. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. The music and dance will begin at 7. The band will be "Frosty and The Roadhogs." Come out and enjoy a fun-filled evening. Refreshments are available. For information call 417-628-3314.

Anderson Methodist Free Supper

There will be a free supper at the Anderson Methodist Church, 702 Patterson St., serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. There will be a fried chicken picnic with cake and ice cream for dessert. There will also be chicken nuggets for the kiddies and drinks. Bring a friend as this is our last supper for awhile, then watch for our future plans.

McDonald County Republican Club

The McDonald County Republican Club will have its next meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 24, 2017, at the Pineville Community Center. The meeting will be hosted by the Bunker Hill Quilters Club.

The Club will have a booth at the Jesse James Days. The booth will have games for the kids and raffles Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Owl Prowl At Military Park

Pea Ridge National Military Park will host its first-ever Owl Prowl at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19.

Park guide Jessie Ballard will talk about the Ozarks' native owls. She will discuss the five senses of owls and how they are different from human senses. Once it is dark enough, participants will also have an opportunity to call in barred owls. The program will conclude with participants dissecting owl pellets to explore what kinds of food owls eat.

Participants will meet at the park visitor center at 8:50 p.m. and caravan to the Elkhorn Tavern. This program will last approximately one hour. Participants should bring a flashlight and their best owl calls. For information, call 479-451-8122, extension 1227.

Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista

An Adult Study Group will meet in the church parlor on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 9:30 a.m.

Presbyterian Women will be participating in the PW Cluster 1 Fall Gathering at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville on Friday, Aug. 18, beginning at 8:30 a.m. for registration. An overview of this year's Bible Study will be followed by worship and a luncheon.

The community is invited to worship with us for a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20. Christian Education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m. A nursery attendant is available. We always welcome new friends.
