Young Mustangs Sweep Doubleheader

The McDonald County seventh- and eighth-grade baseball teams swept a doubleheader over Marionville on April 18 at McDonald County High School.

Ethan Francisco picked up the win for the Mustangs in the eighth-grade game. Francisco went the distance, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out three and walking two.

Shadow Keeling led the offense with a pair of hits while Trent Alik, Trayce McCool, Josh Parsons, Ethan Lett, Carlos Sosa, Cory Creason and Francisco had one hit each.

Brandon Armstrong got the win in the seventh-grader's 12-1 win over the Comets. Armstrong went two innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Colton Ruddick worked the final two innings, shutting out Marionville on one hit.

Dylan Igisomar, Cole Martin and Armstrong led the offense with one hit each.

McDonald County was set to play at Rogers Providence on April 25 before closing out its season on April 27 against Commerce at McDonald County High School.
