The McDonald County High School track team split into two groups to attend meets at East Newton High School in Granby and Pitt State University in Pittsburg, Kan., last week.

Most of the varsity athletes attended the Jock's Nitch/PSU Gorilla Relays on April 14 at Pitt State. Elite athletes from some of the biggest schools in Kansas and Missouri had 42 performances that met or exceeded the MileSplit U.S. second team standard.

The Lady Mustangs were led by Jordan Witt and Ragan Wilson. Witt, a junior, scored two team points with a seventh place finish in the triple jump. Witt had a best of 33-2.75 in the triple jump and added a ninth place by clearing 4-6 in the high jump.

Wilson scored the only other point for the Lady Mustangs with an eighth place in the 400-meter dash. The freshman finished in 1:03.79. Fellow freshman Adyson Sanny was 20th in the 400 in a time of 1:06.33. A total of 46 girls were entered in the race.

The boys were led by sophomore Zach Woods. Woods cleared 12-0 in the pole vault for eighth place.

At East Newton on April 13, freshmen Jack Teague and Michael Williams led McDonald County. Teague was fifth in the long jump (18-7) while Williams was sixth in the high jump (5-6).

McDonald County's next meet is set for April 20 at the Cassville Invitational Track Meet at Cassville High School.
