MU Extension To Host "Mediterranean-Style Eating Pattern" Class In Pineville April 29

It seems like there is a new diet trend in the United States every two weeks according to Lindsey Stevenson, nutrition and health education specialist, University of Missouri Extension.

"Meanwhile, the nation's surrounding the Mediterranean Sea have been reaping the health benefits from their eating pattern and lifestyle for decades," said Stevenson.

University of Missouri Extension will host a hands-on educational experience about the health benefits of eating the "Med-Way" from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at the Pineville Community Center on Jesse James Road in Pineville.

"Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the basics of a proven healthy eating pattern, one that is recommended by the most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Best of all we will also practice cooking a Mediterranean-style meal together," said Stevenson.

Some health benefits of the Mediterranean-style eating pattern include a reduced risk for heart disease, diabetes, obesity and even some cancers.

Cost of the class is $15 per person and pre-registration is required to attend.
