Girls Soccer Drops Game To Aurora

Aurora built a 3-1 lead in the first half before having to hold on in the second for a 4-2 win over McDonald County High School on April 11 at Loyce Shellnut Soccer Field in Anderson.

Aurora took a 2-0 lead, with goals in the 21st and 24th minute, before Karla Barreda cut the margin with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute.

Aurora scored in the 33rd minute to close out the first half with a 3-1 lead.

In the second half, McDonald County freshman Ava Smith cut the lead to 3-2 in the 67th minute with an unassisted goal. Smith nearly tied the game a few minutes later, but her shot bounced off the crossbar and Aurora was able to clear the ball from the mouth of the goal to preserve its 3-2 lead.

The Lady Houn' Dogs added an insurance goal in the 71st minute to make the final 4-2.

The loss drops the Lady Mustangs to 0-5 for the season. McDonald County hosts Springfield Catholic on April 20 before traveling to Neosho for a tournament on April 21-22.

Monett

The Lady Cubs built a 5-0 lead in the first half and went on to claim a 6-1 win over McDonald County on April 13 at Monett. Barreda's second half unassisted goal was the only score for the Lady Mustangs.
