Junior Runners Finish Fourth At Carthage

The seventh- and eighth-grade girls' teams both finished fourth at the Carthage Junior High Track Meet on April 6 to lead the McDonald County junior high track teams.

The seventh-grade girls totaled 38 points to tie Joplin East for fourth place. Mount Vernon won the meet with 141 points.

Sosha Howard was second in the 200 (29.8) and Nicole Estrada was second in the shot put (31-3) to lead McDonald County.

The eighth-grade girls totaled 52 points for fourth. Carthage won the team title with 183.5.

McDonald County was led by a second by Caitlyn Barton in the 200 (29.6) and Lily Allman, third, long jump (13-2).

The seventh-grade boys took seventh with 24 points. Carthage won the meet with 133 points.

McDonald County was led by Garrett Gricks' second place in the discus with a throw of 100-11.

The eighth-grade boys scored only 1.5 points. Bailey Lewis was sixth in the long jump (14-4) while Alexis Pedroza tied for sixth in the pole vault (7-0).

McDonald County was scheduled to travel to East Newton on April 11 and to Monett on April 13.
