Golfers Compete In Two Tournaments

Nevada outdistanced an 11-team field by 23 strokes to claim the team title of the Bird-Dog Invitational Golf Tournament held April 3 at Briarbrook Country Club in Carl Junction.

Nevada fired a four over par 292 to easily defeat Carthage in second place with a 315 total.

McDonald County finished in 11th place with a 549 total.

Nevada's Patrick Ferry shot a one under par 71 to edge teammate John Quitno with a 73.

McDonald County was led by Walker Keith with a 127 followed by Tim Shields with a 130, Sam Whitehill 143 and Blake Harrell 149.

McDonald County is scheduled to host Neosho and Carl Junction on April 18 at Elk River Country Club in Noel. Matches begin at 4 p.m.

Cassville

Monett's Clayton Kaiser shot a 76 to lead the Cubs to the team title at the Cassville Invitational held April 6 at Cassville Golf Course.

Monett totaled 334 strokes followed by Cassville with 375, Mount Vernon 397, Lockwood 400, Thomas Jefferson 404, Providence Academy 410, Reeds Spring 418, Sarcoxie 420, Logan-Rogersville 459, Diamond 471 and McDonald County 484.

Seth Barnard led the Mustangs with a 115 total followed by Keith with a 116, Shields 117 and Harrell 136.
