Volleyball Team Hits A Wall At Carl Junction Tourney

McDonald County lost all three of its matches in pool play and then dropped a 25-23, 25-27, 10-15 decision in bracket play to Neosho at the Carl Junction Volleyball Tournament held Saturday at Carl Junction High School.

Against Neosho, Bailey Rickett had 15 kills and Lindsey Limore eight to lead the Lady Mustangs. Rickett added nine digs and three aces while Lauren Goff had 16 digs and five service points. Alex Gross chipped in with four kills and five digs and Destiny Arnall had 12 assists and five service points. Hollie Garvin also had five service points.

McDonald County opened the tournament with a 23-25, 13-25 loss to Marshfield. Rickett had nine kills and Limore four while Goff had 11 digs and Arnall had 11 assists. Rickett and Goff both added five service points.

Jefferson City handed the Lady Mustangs a 25-15, 25-16 loss. Gross and Limore each had three kills while Gross and Rickett had three service points and Garvin had two.

In McDonald County's final pool match, Republic beat the Lady Mustangs 25-23, 25-16.

McDonald County was led by Rickett with eight kills and Goff with 10 digs. Ember Killon added three kills and Nicole Salas had one.

The Lady Mustangs fall to 7-12 entering their Sept. 27 Big 8 Conference match against Lamar. McDonald County then hosts Seneca on Oct. 4. Game time is 5 p.m.

Joplin McAuley

Arnall served the match's first nine points and Goff followed with eight more to stake McDonald County to a 17-1 lead on the way to a 25-8, 25-14 win over Joplin McAuley on Sept. 19 at MCHS.

In the second game, the Lady Mustangs scored seven out of eight points to turn a 6-4 lead into a 13-5 advantage on the way to a 25-14 win.

Arnall and Goff each finished with nine service points. Arnall added 17 assists, four kills and four digs while Goff had six digs.

Rickett led McDonald County in kills with 10 while Gross had four to go with seven service points.

McDonald County added a 25-20, 25-19 win in the junior varsity match.

Mount Vernon

McDonald County picked up a Big 8 Conference win on Sept. 20 with a 25-20, 25-21 win at Mount Vernon High School.

Rickett had eight kills and 11 service points and Gross added six kills and seven digs to lead McDonald County.

Arnall had 18 assists, eight service points, five digs and four kills while Limore had five kills and Goff added seven digs and three service points. Garvin chipped in with five digs and four service points.

Mount Vernon claimed a 25-8, 25-16 win in the junior varsity match.

Carthage

Carthage claimed a 25-14, 25-14 win over McDonald County on Sept. 22 at Carthage High School. The Lady Mustangs were led by Gross with six kills and six digs and Arnall with three kills, three service points and eight assists. Rickett added three kills and two digs while Garvin had four digs and Limore had two kills.

Carthage added a 25-5, 25-10 win in the junior varsity match.
