Junior High Squads Run In Local Cross County Meet

Kayln Stetina finished in fourth place in the seventh-grade girls race, and the seventh-grade boys' team took fifth place to lead the McDonald County junior high cross country teams at the McDonald County Junior High Cross Country Meet held on Sept. 13 at Elk River Golf Course in Noel.

Stetina was fourth in a time of 10:04.3. Ally Monetz of Carl Junction won the race in 9:40.8.

Rounding out the McDonald County results were Haley Mick in 23rd in 11:21.9 and Melanie Gillming in 31st in 11:45.4.

Bentonville's Fulbright and Lincoln junior high schools took first and second place in the team competition followed by Webb City in third. McDonald County did not field a full team.

Dawson Wolff was 23rd in 9:44.2 to lead the McDonald County seventh grade boys to fifth place. Rounding out the results for the Mustangs were Devon Swanson, 41st, 10:32.5; Kaden Keeling, 48th, 10:47.3; Brandon Armstrong, 54th, 11:03.4; Pierce Harmon, 59th, 11:13.2; Garrett Anderson, 73rd, 11:41.3; Jacob Owens, 80th, 12:01.5; Luis Vaca, 85th, 12:06.8; Giovanni Uribe, 96th, 12:47.0; Patrick O'Brien, 97th, 12:47.5; Ethan Pendergraft, 99th, 12:57.2; and Eli Jackson, 101st, 12:58.8.

Bentonville Washington won the team race while Bentonville Lincoln, Rogers Lingle, Rogers Oakdale and McDonald County rounded out the top five.

Kelton Sorrell of East Newton won the individual race in a time of 8:25.2.

Eighth Grade

Lincoln won the eighth-grade boys and girls races. McDonald County did not field full teams in either race.

Alexis Pedroza was the top McDonald County runner in the boys' race. Pedroza was 56th in a time of 10:01.6. Other McDonald County results were Justin Smith, 93rd, 11:07.0 and Chase Lucas, 119th, 12:25.2.

Micah Bruggemen of Joplin North won the eighth grade boys' race in a time of 8:13.0.

Lily Allman led the eighth grade girls with a 34th place finish in a time of 11:30.3. Rounding out the McDonald County results were Anna Mead, 41st, 12:15.7; Destiny Dark, 45th, 12:26.9; and Sasha Miller, 61st, 13:48.3.

Brylee Gogel of Lincoln won the race in a time of 8:57.4.
