Soccer Team Suffers Pair Of Shutouts

The McDonald County High School soccer team suffered a pair of shutouts last week, dropping a 7-0 decision at Monett on Friday and a 9-0 loss to Greenwood Laboratory Prep in Springfield on Sept. 6.

Greenwood built a 5-0 lead by halftime and added four more goals in the second half.

Monett scored six of its seven goals in the first half. The Cubs only second half goal came on a penalty kick.

In a 30-minute half, the McDonald County junior varsity defeated Greenwood 2-0. Scoring goals for McDonald County were Efrain Diaz and Roberto Ruiz.

McDonald County was at Pittsburg on Sept. 12 before returning home on Sept. 15 to host Carthage. Game time is 5 p.m.
