XC Conference Done; Runners Off To District

East Newton trimmed Monett for the girls' championship and Lamar dominated to win the boys' title at the Big 8 Conference Cross Country Championships held Monday in Seneca.

East Newton, led by Kinsey Sorrell in first place in 21:52 and Kaylee Rader in second in 22:16, totaled 31 team points. Monett had 45 points for second place followed by Cassville with 66 and McDonald County with 67.

McDonald County was led by Addy Mick who earned all-conference first team honors with a third place finish in 22:44. Andrea Creason was 11th (24:44) to earn second team honors.

Rounding out the Lady Mustangs results were: Natalie Staib, 18th, 25:45; Liberty Boer, 28th, 28:04 and Istarlin Aden, 30th, 29:51.

Boys

Lamar claimed the first, second, third, fifth and eighth places to total 19 points to easily top the boys' team standings. Cassville took second with 51 points followed by East Newton with 62, McDonald County 91 and Monett 121.

David Lazalde led the McDonald County boys with a 16th place finish in a time of 18:47. Rounding out McDonald County's results were Jackson Behm, 19th, 19:29; Alex Guadarrama, 20th, 19:50; Garrett Spears, 21st, 19:57; Caleb Curtis, 23rd, 20:01; Truman Craig, 29th, 20:19; James King, 30th, 20:24; Tyler Moritz, 33rd, 20:36; Bryce Berryhill, 44th, 21:33; Isaiah Garvin, 45th, 21:35; Drew Landers, 64th, 23:19; Lane Ziemianin, 65th, 23:21; Elijah Nelson, 73rd, 25:08; and Tyler Jackson, 75th, 25:39.

Lamar's Mark Venable won the race in a time of 17:01.

McDonald County's next race is the district championships set for Saturday at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
