Late Touchdown Hands 8th-Graders A Loss

The Aurora Houn Dogs scored a fourth quarter touchdown to claim a 20-16 win over McDonald County in a seventh-grade football game held Oct. 6 at MCHS.

Aurora opened the scoring in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead before McDonald County took the lead in the second quarter on a 44-yard pass from Cole Martin to Eli McClain and Martin's two-point conversion run.

Aurora took a 14-8 lead in the third quarter, but the Mustangs came back to take a 16-14 lead when Junior Eliam returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown and Martin ran for his second conversion.

Kaden Misner had two interceptions and Lee Soshe had one to lead the defense.

McDonald County falls to 3-2 heading into its final game of the season on Oct. 13 at Lamar.

Eighth Grade

Aurora took a 30-0 lead by halftime and went on to claim a 42-16 decision in the eighth-grade game.

McDonald County scored both of its touchdowns on runs by Jackson Clarkson in the third quarter. Clarkson's first came from 45 yards out followed by a 62 yarder later in the period. Bailey Lewis ran for both conversions.

The eighth grade, 0-5 for the season, plays its final game following the seventh-grade game at Lamar on Oct. 13.
