The McDonald County Historical Society will host their next guest speaker, Doug Kidd, at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Pineville Community Center, 602 Jesse James Road. The public is welcome to attend this free program.

Doug is a true historian. He is captain of the first Arkansas Civil War Re-enactment Unit. They portray a Union cavalry unit and have been doing so for about 30 years. He has his own private military museum with artifacts from many U.S. wars, dating back to the Revolutionary War. Doug owns and operates Border States Leather Works in Springdale, Ark.

The gathering will begin with a short business meeting of the Historical Society. If you are interested in the history of U.S. wars, this is an event you don't want to miss. Light refreshments will be served, and there will be door prizes for many lucky guests.
