Rita Greene/McDonald County Press Mayor Gregg Sweeten presented Barbara Williams, wife of deceased Jack Williams who was a former Alderman on the Pineville city council, with a framed flag plaque honoring the service and memory of Jack Williams at the Pineville city council meeting Tuesday.

Mayor Gregg Sweeten opened the Pineville City Council meeting Tuesday by presenting a framed flag to Barbara Williams, wife of former Alderman Jack Williams, who passed away recently. This gesture was in appreciation of Jack William's service to the city. The council expressed that Jack is very much missed by the council and the city.

Sweeten said the new playground equipment arrived and there is a problem regarding people parking to close to the equipment. The council said they will discuss further measure to keep parking at a distance from the equipment.

Bruce Williams, resident of Pineville, addressed the council with a complaint regarding a trailer home at the north end of town. He said the home is in a state of disarray and the property is not being mowed on an ongoing basis. Williams said that during storms a piece of metal keeps making racket. The piece could blow off the building and hurt someone, he noted.

Sweeten said the city is currently maintaining the property by mowing it and will continue to do so.

Areas of Bailey Road were discussed and a decision was made to cut brush in the area.

Alderman Jeff Slish addressed the council, suggesting that there should be ordinances defining where certain animals can be and how much acreage is required for them. Slish said it should be very specific what animals are allowed within the city limits.

Melissa Ziemianin, city clerk, said it is time to start thinking about what areas of the city should be mowed. There was discussion regarding hay and grass. The grass needs to be mowed, but hay does not.

Slish said there are no ordinances telling people what they can have and cannot have within the city limits.

Sweeten said the council will define what animals will be allowed within the city limits and discuss this further in July.

Chris Tinsley, public works supervisor, said some equipment needs to be ordered for the sewer plant. The council agreed to order the equipment.

Street paving in different areas of Pineville was discussed. Sweeten said the council will get a bid on the cost.

Tinsley said he has been fogging the Pineville area for mosquitoes.

The proposed walking trail was discussed. Alderman Scott Dennis said the trail is being carefully planned and they want to assure it is done right.
