Mcdonald County 18U Split A Pair

The McDonald County 18u baseball team split a pair of games last week, beating Monett 6-1 on June 9 after dropping a 6-2 decision to Neosho on June 7 to open the week.

Against Neosho, Tyler Sellers took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in six innings. Charlie Moore worked a scoreless seventh for McDonald County.

Neosho took a 2-0 lead in the second on a walk, a double and an error and stretched the lead to 6-0 in the third, scoring four runs on two hits, a walk, a hit batter and two errors.

McDonald County scored a run in the fourth on a single by Ty Shaver and a run-scoring hit by Emitt Dalton. McDonald County's final run came in the seventh on Dalton's double and singles by Joe Brown and A.J. Madewell.

Dalton led McDonald County with two hits while Shaver, Brown, Madewell and James King accounted for the other four McDonald County hits.

Monett

Moore held Monett to one run on four hits to lead McDonald County to a 6-1 win on June 9 at home. The sophomore right-hander struck out 11 while walking two.

McDonald County erased an early 1-0 Monett lead with five runs in the bottom of the second. Jon Martin started the rally with a leadoff single. Peyton Barton followed with a single before Dylan Teague walked to load the bases. King walked to plate the first run. McDonald County's second run scored on a ground out by Boston Dowd before another walk and Shaver's bases-clearing triple plated the final three runs.

King walked and scored on Shaver's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning for McDonald County's final run.

Martin had two singles and a double to lead McDonald County at the plate. Shaver finished with a triple and single while Barton had two singles. Dowd and Dalton had McDonald County's other two hits.

McDonald County is now 4-4 on the season. McDonald County's next game is set for June 16 at Seneca. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
