Mcdonald County 16U Beats Monett 9-8

Ragan Bradley's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh lifted the McDonald County 16u baseball team to a 9-8 win over Monett on June 9 at McDonald County High School, capping off a comeback from an eight-run deficit.

David Roark reached on an error to lead off the inning. Ty Shaver pinch ran and stole second before advancing to third on Grant Cooper's sacrifice bunt. Bradley followed with a fly ball to right field that was just deep enough to score Shaver with the winning run.

Monett scored four runs in the first and four more in the third to take an early 8-0 lead. Bradley started and went two and a third innings before Kade Brock allowed a pair of runs on two walks and a hit in Monett's four-run third inning.

Izak Johnson got the last out of the third inning and shut out Monett the rest of the way for the win.

McDonald County began chipping away at the lead with two runs in the third and one in the fourth before exploding for five runs in the fifth to force a tie.

Reece Cooper singled and scored on Johnson's hit in the third before an error allowed the second run to score. In the fourth, Bradley doubled and scored on a single by Brett Dalton.

McDonald County batted around in the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits. Cooper and Johnson both singled and scored while Roark had a two-run hit and Kameron Hopkins drove in the tying run with a two-out hit.

Hopkins, Reece Cooper and Johnson all had two hits while Koby McAlister, Bradley, Dalton and Roark had one each.

Neosho

Neosho scored three runs in the top of the seventh to claim a 4-1 win on June 7 at McDonald County. Johnson took the loss for McDonald County, allowing three runs on four hits in the seventh. Cooper started on the mound for McDonald County, allowing one run in four innings. Rendon Lane worked the fifth and Bradley the sixth before Johnson took over for the seventh.

Cooper allowed an unearned run in the third inning, holding Neosho to just one hit in four innings of work.

McDonald County scored its only run in the fourth. Cooper, Roark and Jon Martin all walked before Cooper scored on a wild pitch.

Johnson and Hopkins had both had singles for McDonald County's only hits.

McDonald County, 4-4 on the season, hosted Cassville on June 14 before Seneca comes to town on June 16. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
