SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University conferred 2,424 degrees to students during its spring commencement ceremonies May 13 at JQH Arena.
A total of 1,790 bachelor degrees, 561 master degrees and 73 doctoral degrees were conferred. Beyond the standard expectations, 180 students were recognized for their work with a more rigorous curriculum in Missouri State's Honors College.
Scholastic honors were given to 114 students who graduated summa cum laude (with grade point average of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale), 146 who graduated magna cum laude (with a GPA of 3.75-3.89) and 266 who graduated cum laude (with a GPA of 3.5-3.74).
Among the graduates were:

• Taylor Walker, Goodman, bachelor of science in education
• Kelly Owens, Noel, bachelor of arts
• Celina Hernandez, Southwest City, bachelor degree in social work.
