Cooking Class

Discover new and easy ways to cut salt and sugar from meals during "Hands-On Cooking: Sugar Me Up; Salt Me Down!" at 6 p.m. Tuesday with nutrition program associate Eden Stewart from McDonald County's University of Missouri Extension Office. This class will take place at the Southwest City location of the McDonald County Library. Space is limited and registration is required by contacting Tammy Taylor at 417-762-7323.

Dinner/Dance

The Stella Senior Center will have a dinner and dance Friday evening. The center will serve hot turkey sandwiches with gravy and potatoes, vegetables, dessert and drink for $5, starting at 5:30 p.m. The dance begins at 7 p.m., with "Frosty and The Roadhogs," for $3.

Softball Tryouts

McDonald County Chaos, a new, competitive fast-pitch softball team, is holding tryouts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Pineville ball fields. This a 10U and 12U traveling team. For more information, call Le'Ann at 417-540-5442.

Bible Trail Cattle Drive

Moss Church presents its VBS, "Bible Trail Cattle Drive," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 1-5. Saddle up and help drive the herd to greener pastures! Travel 2 miles on West Hwy. 76, then turn left onto Moss Church Rd. Travel another eighth of a mile to the church.

Class of '76 reunion

The McDonald County Class of 1976 is celebrating its 40th year reunion from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at River Ranch Resort. Reservations are $20 per person. Send payment to Annette Meador, P.O. Box 381, Noel, MO 64854.

Vendor booth rental, Parade and "Running with Outlaws" forms for the 2016 Jesse James Days are available at the Pineville City Hall and online at pinevillemo.us. For more information, contact the city clerk's office at 417-223-4368.

Republican Club news

The McDonald County Republican Club had a great meeting Thursday, June 23, hosted by Kenny and Kathy Underwood. The club raised a little over $1,500 that went to its scholarship fund. The Scholarship committee handed out two $1,000 scholarships to Cole Cooper and Ashton Pratt. There were many local and statewide candidates in attendance. There will not be a meeting in July, but the club would love to invite everyone to visit its booth at the McDonald County Fair.
