MCHS Wrestling Team Wins Two On Matwarming Night

The McDonald County High School wrestling team celebrated its 2016 matwarming and senior night festivities Feb. 4 with dual wins over Carl Junction and Diamond to close out the regular season.

McDonald County opened with a 54-12 win over Carl Junction. The Mustangs received pins from Jakob Gerow (120 pounds); Truman Craig (145); and Rylan Hobbs (182). Receiving forfeits for the Mustangs were Johann De La Cruz (106); Christian Willman (132); Timber Bowers (152); Kenneth Read (160); Jesus Ocampo (170); and Dylan Akins (195).

McDonald County followed with a 53-17 win over Diamond. Winning by pin for the Mustangs was Nathan Knadle (138) while Gerow claimed a 20-5 decision. The balance of McDonald County's points came on forfeits to De La Cruz (106); De Santiago (120); Willman (132); Craig (145); Bowers (152); Ocampo (170); and Bronnie Kinser (285).

Brittney Stone was crowned matwarming queen prior to the matches. Also, McDonald County recognized senior wrestlers De Santiago, Knadle and Read and senior manager Stone for their contributions to Mustang wrestling

The Mustangs' next action will be at the Missouri Class 3 District 3 Championships on Feb. 12-13 at Branson High School. The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the state championships set for Feb. 18-20 in Columbia.
