The McDonald County freshman boys went 1-2 at last week's Webb City Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament, including a 44-30 loss to Carl Junction in the consolation bracket finals.
Tae-Shawn Alik led the Mustangs with 21 points. Other McDonald County scoring was as follows: Colliar Gottfried, Walker Keith, Bryan Trejo and Dylan Allison two points each and Ben Mora one point.
McDonald County opened the tournament with a 62-25 loss to Joplin.
Alik scored 16 points for the Mustangs followed by Kevin Martinez, Mora, Keith and Gottfried two each and John Howard one.
McDonald County defeated Neosho 35-31 in the consolation bracket behind 14 points from Alik and 12 from Mora. Rounding out the scoring for the Mustangs were Martinez with four points, Keith and Allison two each and Howard with one.
McDonald County is at the Monett Tournament this week before returning home to face St. Mary's Colgan on Dec. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
