Back 2 School Bash Helped Hundreds

Special to McDonald County Press

A large crowd attended "Back 2 School Bash" Sunday at Banner Church of the Nazarene.

More than 300 backpacks with school supplies were given, along with a boy's bike and a girl's bike.

Thanks to Meghan Steele, Linda Call, Tanya Stone and Chandra Cristy who gave more than 60 free haircuts.

Dozens of bags of gently used clothing were distributed. Children and their parents enjoyed nearly 500 hot dogs with cookies and chips, popcorn, snow cones and a free Gospel of John.

Inflatable bounce houses were a big hit with the kids.

Sue Buttram and Charlene Bergen organized this event, while many volunteers made it possible. Debbie Spears set up the Head Start booth.

Churches helping with the event were Banner Church, Splitlog Baptist Church, Freedom Fellowship, New Life Fellowship, Exciting Living Word and Wranglers For Christ.

Banner Church is located at 597 Northfork Road in Anderson. For more information, call 417-364-7461.
