What Can You Fix?

Our worship began with Leanna Schlessman lighting the altar candles. Donnie Schlessman, liturgist, asked for birthdays. We sang happy birthday to Clinton Helm. Donnie, Ezra and Leanna led us in singing praise songs: "This is the Day the Lord Has Made" and "I Will Rejoice for He Has Made Me Glad."

Pastor Mark shared many prayer concerns and led the congregation in our time of prayer.

Hugh Keller read today's scripture from Nehemiah 2:1-11.

The Children's time considered the topic "I Want to Help." Help goes both ways. Sometimes we are eager to help someone, but less eager to be the one receiving help. We need to learn to be both helpers and to let others help us when needed.

Pastor Mark's sermon continued the thoughts of last week. When Nehemiah realized that the walls of Jerusalem were still broken down, he prayed and sought guidance from God.

Last week the pastor asked "What is your passion?"

This week we heard how Nehemiah shared with the king his great longing to help the people in Jerusalem. He was able to speak in such a way that the heart of the king was touched. The king said "Go, take what you need to accomplish the task." He found the person who could help (the king), shared his vision of repairing the wall with those who had the same passion and took people who were willing to do the work. Nehemiah said, "The wall is a mess, but WE CAN fix it."

We were challenged by the pastor to look at what is needed in our church and in our community. Talk to others to see what is needed. Find others who will share the desire to make changes.
