There Are Two Roads To Follow, Which One Will You Take?

The youth reported that they had a wonderful time at the Passion Play. They were joined by some of the adults from the church. There were 18 who said they would advise anyone to take the time to go see this very inspirational performance.

We had birthdays this week. Lexi and Katlin Crosby were joined by Sister Louine Gardner who also celebrated on this our Lord's day. We pray God's blessing will be with the three for many more birthdays.

We had several visitors and were so glad to welcome them into the presence of our worship service. Due to illness Brother Randy and Sister Jeanie were unable to be with us; we are praying for a rapid recovery.

Brother Carl Wayne Cartwright filled in for Brother Randy, who is our song leader. In addition to a very moving song called "Jesus You are the Lover of My Soul," he lead us in several choruses. It was a precious time and the spirit was enjoyed by all. We ended this portion of the service with "How Great Thou Art."

Pastor Bob Cartwright began his sermon by telling of a very important event taking place that afternoon. Brother Jimmy Walters made known his desire to be baptized a few weeks ago. Praise the Lord this is the time and the creek was the place. We are so glad that Jim made the decision to take another step toward a life that leads to eternal life. We want to thank Pastor and Brother John Cartwright for wading out into that cold water for the baptizing. We still do it the old-fashioned way, what a blessing.

Pastor started his message with some facts about men in the bible who made wrong choices and walked the wrong path. Moses told the children of Israel to go see the land that God promised them. Of all that viewed this beautiful place only two said lets go and occupy the land. Moses knew that he would soon be leaving them and he was trying to get them on the right road before he left.

Even now the church often fails to follow God's direction and the road they choose brings them to a place of sorrow. Why do we doubt the will of the Father? Because we want to go the way that feels good to the flesh. If we are led by the spirit we will never make the mistake of taking the wrong road. The spirit will always lead us in a way that is the acceptable will of God.

Our announcements for this week were given by Sister Sandra Cartwright and included a reminder that the women's meeting will be the second Saturday in October at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. We also want to thank our 96-year-old lady who blessed us with the old hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross." God bless her for glorifying God.
