Oscar Talley Bridge Subject Of Commission Meeting

The McDonald County Commission met with Jeff Baneret and James Sutton, of Great River Engineering, to discuss the Oscar Talley Bridge project in Anderson. The commission signed paperwork to apply for funding from the Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program.

Also in attendance were Rick Jordan and Charles Snyder, landowners near the location of the proposed bridge. Synder expressed concerns about a large amount of rock that would potentially end up on his property. An agreement between the landowners and the Commission was discussed. Snyder and Jordan were scheduled to return on Sept. 23 to further discuss an agreement.

In other business:

• Dony Garner, with River of Faith Church, requested the Commission inspect River of Faith Lane, the road running alongside the church.

• Mike Kindellan requested the Commission inspect Grace Avenue concerning a windrow in front of his driveway.

• Jacob Lake, of Joplin, inquired about property owned by the county.

• Misty Copeland discussed the need for a culvert on Sunset Strip Road. The Commission agreed to inspect the road.

• Bill Ewan, of the Victor L. Phillips Company, spoke to the Commission about two backhoes for the county.

• The Commission conducted a completion inspection of Ponderosa Road.

• The Commission met with Marty Yust, juvenile officer, regarding office space for a full-time McDonald County juvenile officer.

• The Commission signed and approved juror payout/traveling expense checks in the amount of $3,246.35.

• The Commission signed and approved Accounts Payable/Payroll checks in the amount of $102,045.02.
