Softball JV Wins Carthage Tournament
The McDonald County High School junior varsity softball team defeated Webb City 7-2 Saturday in the championship game of the Carthage Junior Varsity Tournament.
Winning pitcher Lakota Wolf picked up her third win on the day, allowing two runs on eight hits. The offense was led by Bekah Hitt with three hits and Miryan Martinez, Hannah Leonard, Samantha Frazier and Bailey McCalister with two each.
The Lady Mustangs opened the tournament with an 11-0 win over Carthage behind a three-inning no-hitter by Wolf. The only baserunner against the sophomore right-hander came on a hit batter.
Kaylee Cornell had two singles and double to lead the offense.
McDonald County defeated Neosho 4-1 next. Wolf tossed a five-hitter while Frazier and Kendra Brown each had two hits.
Soccer Team Falls To Neosho
The McDonald County High School soccer team fell to 3-5 for the season with a 2-0 loss Sept. 24 at Neosho.
McDonald County traveled to Cassville on Tuesday before returning home (at Crowder College) on Oct. 1 to host Aurora.
