Junior High Girls Net Strong Wins

The McDonald County eighth-grade girls basketball team improved to 5-0 Monday night with a 57-21 win over Aurora at Anderson Middle School.

Rita Santillan scored 15 points and Ragan Wilson had 13 to lead McDonald County. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Mustangs were Jaylie Sanny with nine points, Emily Thornton and Mylea Schlessman six each and Chloe Colvin and Grace Poland four each.

The B team made it a sweep with a 35-17 win behind 13 points from Alexia Estrada and 12 by Addy Mick. Other scoring was Colvin with four points and two each by Jackie Grider, Alison Nicoletti and Sammi Dowd.

The McDonald County seventh grade fell to 3-2 on the season. The seventh-grade B team claimed a 45-10 decision. Scoring was not available.

East Newton

The eighth-grade team picked up a 45-14 win over East Newton on Nov. 10. Wilson scored 22 points and Santillan had 10 to lead McDonald County. Colvin added six points, Nicoletti, Thornton and Poland two each and Estrada one to round out the scoring for McDonald County.

The seventh-graders claimed a 48-9 win behind 18 points from Jersey Wolfenbarger. Rounding out the scoring were Katie Kester and Laney Wilson with eight points each, Lily Allman and Mollie Milleson with five each and Caitlyn Barton with four. McDonald County traveled to Cassville on Tuesday night before returning home on Nov. 19 to host Neosho.
